The name Higaonon is derived from the words  higa  meaning living, the word  goan which means mountains and the word  onon  meaning people. They are described as the “people of the living mountains” and “people of the wilderness” because their way of life is focused on managing the forests they live in and to create a co-...

Coronavirus by Alyssa Bianca S. Belga     It is already 2021 and the world still have not recovered from the virus that made most of the countries experience lockdowns, community quarantines, cancelled flights and less physical interactions; and the virus that made lots of tissue papers in every grocery store get out of stock is called Coronavirus or also known as Covid-19. The Coronavirus came from Wuhan, China and had spread all across the globe because it is a highly contagious virus that can be easily transmitted through coughs, sneezes, being at the range of someone who is infected and touching contaminated surfaces and then touching your face after. Because of Covid-19 the government advised that people should avoid handshakes, hugs and execute social distancing for at least 6 feet apart from each other for the mean time as to avoid getting infected and/or infecting other people. And due to lockdowns, people are also advised not to go outside as much as possible and ju...

Hi! Welcome back to my blog! In this week's blog, we have to research the 17 fallacies and propaganda techniques of mass media and answer the weekly questions such as "What is the most important thing that you learned today?" and "How can you apply that learning in real life?" image source: https://www.europarl.europa.eu/RegData/etudes/STUD/2019/608864/IPOL_STU(2019)608864_EN.pdf Glittering Generalities - also known as Glowing Generalities is a vague word or phrase that's used to evoke positive feelings rather than to convey information. Guilt by Association - means that you personally didn't really do something wrong but that people who you are associated with did. You are judged by the company you keep, so you can be viewed as guilty because of your association with wrongdoers. Half-Truth - is a deceptive statement that includes some element of truth. The statement might be partly true, the statement may be totally true but only part of the whole trut...

Lesson 9: Opportunities, Challenges, and Power of Media and Information

Image
Hi! It has been so long since my last Journal, because of the Academic Break and the calamities we faced, I hope everyone is safe and doing fine! And, welcome back to my blog! My insights: image source:  https://www.loyola.edu/academics/emerging-media/blog/2016/freedom-of-speech-on-social-media     The negative impact of social media in free speech and expression is, when there are people who try to express what they feel, they will be judged by the social media users that do not agree with the said logic. Example, when there is a political problem and User A posted a Facebook post that points out that Politician X should focus on Problem 1 instead of focusing in the not so important Problem 2. And when User B, who is a fan of Politician X, read the post, attacked User A for being ungrateful and being so demanding to Politician X, and User B was attacking User A with harsh and personal comments like "Maybe you have no parents because you have no manners." "How ...

Hi! Welcome back to my blog!     Despite the Online Classes during the Pandemic, our school still gave us a one week Academic Break, so with our educator's consideration, he won't give us a Performance Task but we still need an output so all we need to do is to answer three simple questions, you should also take some break if you're tired and please bare with me. :) image source: https://sopipipi.blogspot.com/2019/03/how-to-be-responsible-netizen.html 1. In your own simple ways, how can you promote being a responsible netizen among your social media friends?     - Being a responsible netizen is respecting others opinions, capabilities and most importantly, applying the netiquettes. Before judging someone hastily and throw hurtful words to them, you should first try to put yourself onto others' shoes so you can at least be considerate about what they are going through. You should not start a fight with someone just because you have nothing else better to do...

Lesson 7: Media and Information Languages

Image
Hi! Welcome back to my blog!      In this week's blog, I will first insert a picture of a poster and the identified symbolic codes and conventions that was used. And after that, I will say my insights about our Lesson, which is the Media and Information Languages. My insights:       Learning the codes in media messages are important for someone who wants to direct a film, for someone who is a film enthusiast and also for normal people, so it is basically important for everyone. Because in learning this, you will be able to identify right away what you need to expect from the film, so you won't be disappointed if you have too much expectations. And if you become an expert in identifying these codes, other people might listen to your opinions and you can make this your job. The colors used in the scenes, the dress codes, the camera angles and many more.     This are always applicable in the lives of someone who always loves watching films....
