Hi! Welcome back to my blog! In this week's Journal, all we need to do is answer the ff. questions:

1) What is the impact of MOOC in information access?

2) How does ubiquitous learning (u-learning) impact the traditional mode of learning?

3) What is the most important thing that you learned in the lesson?

4) How can you apply that in real life?

What is the impact of MOOC in information access?

Massive Open Online Course or MOOC in short, is a model for delivering learning content online to any person who wants to take a course, without any limit attendee, meaning they will entertain as many students as possible that wants to attend their Online Course. It is available for anyone without paying tuition as long as they have a gadget and internet connection.

Massive Open Online Course are great for accessing information, because you don't need to get out of your house in order to learn something. MOOCs are utilized primarily by education institutions and so are OERs. OERs or Open Educational Resources are available at no cost and can be legally purposed by everyone.

The educational benefits of MOOCs can be maximized if organizations or institutions that open such courses are made more "open" through Creative Commons licensing. This way academic and professional institutions reach more online users, thus "flourishing open education movement, according to Vollmer, 2012.

How does ubiquitous learning (u-learning) impact the traditional mode of learning?

Ubiquitous learning or simply u-learning is a kind of e-learning experience that is more adaptive in the learner's needs. It can be accessed in various context and situations, you can be at the library, at school, at the museum, at any fast food chains or any coffee shops, and you can still have access of your files anytime and anywhere, eminently learning through the use of mobile gadgets.

The impact of this in the traditional mode of learning is you don't especially have to go out of your house to go to the school and meet personally with your classmates and teachers. It is also said that a student in u-learning are more involved in the learning process. And when you engage in the u-learning, you are more appointed to face real-life challenges because of your exposure to new technologies that can help you in your career.

What is the most important thing that you learned in the lesson?

I think that the most important lesson I've learned in this lesson is educating us about the Wiki. These applications or websites allow many people to collaborate all their knowledges about a certain topic, they can edit, modify, extend or even delete the contents or structure of a particular page. It has no defined writers compared to Blogs and it has little definite structure to emerge according the needs of the users.

The most popular examples of wiki are: Wikipedia, Wikianswers and Wikihow.

How can you apply that in real life?

This can be really used in real life and most importantly it can be used in school when it comes for a students assignments or researches. Using Wiki applications or websites are not advisable by the teachers to use as reference when it comes to your research papers because you can't have validations if what those people said was true and if they are credible enough to share such knowledge.

Thank you for reading my blog, see you next week! Stay safe, stay well! Ciao!
