Lesson 8: Legal, Ethical, and Societal Issues in Media and Information
Hi! Welcome back to my blog!
Despite the Online Classes during the Pandemic, our school still gave us a one week Academic Break, so with our educator's consideration, he won't give us a Performance Task but we still need an output so all we need to do is to answer three simple questions, you should also take some break if you're tired and please bare with me. :)
1. In your own simple ways, how can you promote being a responsible netizen among your social media friends?
- Being a responsible netizen is respecting others opinions, capabilities and most importantly, applying the netiquettes. Before judging someone hastily and throw hurtful words to them, you should first try to put yourself onto others' shoes so you can at least be considerate about what they are going through. You should not start a fight with someone just because you have nothing else better to do and you should not invade others' privacy. If you have a great influence in social media or wherever, you should use it responsibly because many people are watching your moves and if you do something wrong some people might try to copy you thinking that doing it is acceptable in the society. And lastly, you should treat someone politely and considerately, just like how you would treat someone in real life.
2. What tips can you give to someone who is suffering from computer and Internet addiction?
- Computers and Internet are really helpful in today's society, and it helps us to interact with other people that are far from us. But as much as possible, we should interact with other people physically not through screen, like talking to our family and hanging out with our friends. But because of the Pandemic, hanging out is really difficult and our only way is through the screens, because it is unavoidable, we should at least minimize our time for our gadgets and have more time for our family and ourselves, learn something new, refine our talents and do the things we love.
3.How can you show respect to other people's Intellectual Property Rights?
- Everyone has an Intellectual Property Rights, and for them to respect your IPR you should also respect theirs. And to show respect, we should ask for permission if we can use their creations and give credit for their work. Because other creators spend their whole lives in order to create something, stressful days, sleepless nights, and distrustful comments from the society saying that they won't be able to make it, and if you will just use it without any permission and credits from the creator, it will dishonor their hardships. I think it is better to have clean conscience than earning large amount of money with somebody's hard work.
I'll be sure to enjoy our Academic Break! <3
Thank you for reading my blog, see you next time! Stay safe, stay well! Ciao! :)
